Update: OTP based 2-Factor Authentication required for Mutual Fund Redemption and Switch Requests from Jun 1, 2022

OTP based 2-Factor Authentication
required for Mutual Fund Redemption and Switch Requests

Dear Saurabh Kumar,

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has directed the Mutual fund distributors to have a 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) for all redemptions, switch outs, Systematic Transfer plan (STP) and Systematic withdrawal plan (SWP) requests, effective from June 1, 2022.

This 2-Factor Authentication has to be done on the mobile number updated in the Mutual Fund Folio. To honour the transactions, please update the same mobile number updated in the Bank Account mapped to the Folio.

At present, we would send the OTP for the 2FA to the mobile number updated in the Bank records. In case there is a mismatch between the mobile number on which the OTP is sent and the AMC records, the transaction will be rejected.

For any query or assistance, you may contact our Customer Care on 1860 120 7777

The above may be ignored if the mobile number updated in the Bank and the Mutual Fund folio is the same.

If the mobile number updated with the Bank and the Mutual Fund Folio is different then, please visit the MF central link to get it updated. https://app.mfcentral.com/investor/signup
ICICI Bank Limited shall not be liable or responsible for any loss or shortfall resulting from the rejection of these transaction/s

Safeguard yourself against UPI frauds

Protect yourself from fraudulent payments
on the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) applications.

Fraudsters send QR Codes using messaging applications to targeted individuals and persuade them to scan the QR Code or send a 'Collect Request' to click and approve a payment

Once scanned or approved, funds are transferred to the fraudster's account.

Often fraudsters trick the targeted individual by building a false story such as intending to buy a product that the targeted individual is selling or impersonating as a bank or an online shopping company executive

Fraudsters then offer to process refunds/unclaimed cashback offers, Reward Points, etc.

A QR Code or a 'Collect Request' is sent to the targeted individual.

They scan the QR Code or approve the 'Collect Request'

Funds are then transferred to the fraudster's account once the individual uses his/her UPI PIN or Mobile PIN (MPIN)

UPI PIN or MPIN are not required for 'receiving funds'. It is only required for payments

If your UPI PIN/MPIN is compromised, change it immediately

In case of a fraud, check for the transaction in your linked account and report it immediately

Do not share your UPI PIN or MPIN with anyone
For more information on online security, visit www.icicibank.com
or call ICICI Bank Phone Banking.

Sincerely,
ICICI Bank Limited.
