Supporting India’s Sustainability Journey : ICICI Bank’s ESG Report 2021-22

It gives me pleasure to share with you ICICI Bank's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report 2021-22. It outlines our multiple efforts towards mitigating environmental impact, increasing usage of renewable energy, promoting inclusive growth for the under-privileged, following responsible lending practices and abiding by high standards of corporate governance. In fiscal 2022, the Bank adopted a Board approved ESG Policy. We are also integrating ESG and climate risk parameters into our risk management framework. Sustainability has always been integral to India's deep-rooted traditions and ethos. This report briefly mentions about the rich legacy of sustainability in our country over the centuries. Every nation and its stakeholders have to undertake efforts to build an appropriate sustainable environment. As a responsible corporate citizen, we have been undertaking various initiatives in this area. I would like to draw your attention to a few of them: the creation of an artificial glacier in Leh, installing rainwater harvesting structures at rural schools across the country and constructing pedestrian bridges to make remote hilly locations accessible. It gives us satisfaction to see the positive impact we are making on the lives of many under-privileged Indians and their communities. I would urge you to read the inspiring stories of a transgender earning both livelihood and self-respect through skill training, and the efforts of members of the Thara Mahila Sangham SHG to free themselves from the shackles of poverty.
